SO150 - Introduction to Social Work

This course introduces students to the profession of social work, its history, values, and role in advancing human well-being and social justice. Students will explore the philosophical and theoretical foundations of social work, distinguish social work from other helping professions, and examine practice at the micro, mezzo, and macro levels. Core values, ethics, and social justice issues will be integrated throughout. Emphasis will also be placed on preparing students for transfer to four-year programs, aligning with the Kansas Core Outcomes Group (KCOG) standards.
